Vivint offers high-end home security and automation packages with a focus on “smart security.” Using a combination of home security and home automation technology to keep intruders out, stop environmental damage, and improve the comfort level of your home, each plan is customized to perfectly fit your specific needs.
What is Vivint?
Vivint is a smart home security company that offers home security devices as well as 24/7 monitoring services. Vivint’s home security hardware is pretty high-tech stuff: there’s a real emphasis on smart home connectivity in Vivint’s offerings, which include an app to keep everything organized. With that said, Vivint’s solutions are just for techy DIYers. VIvint also offers professional installation and keeps track of your system from afar in order to alert the authorities if anything goes wrong.
How Does Vivint work?
Like most traditional home security services, Vivint’s offerings come in two fundamental parts: hardware and monitoring. Vivint’s hardware offerings include all of the stuff you need in order to protect your space and spot potential dangers: doorbell cameras, entry detectors, smart locks, carbon monoxide detectors, and more. All of this is paired with Vivint’s 24/7 monitoring service, which will respond if things go wrong. If someone breaks into your home, Vivint’s hardware should detect it and Vivint’s monitoring team should be able to alert you — and the proper authorities, too.
What Products Does Vivint Offer?
Vivint offers a solid range of different security devices, including plenty of cameras and sensors. There’s also an impressive Vivint app. Here are a few of the devices and digital products that could be the building blocks of your Vivint system:
What Services Does Vivint Offer?
Vivint’s most important service offering is its 24/7 monitoring service. Paired with the various security devices that monitor your property, the 24/7 monitoring service can protect you, your loved ones, and your space from criminal elements. When someone trips the alarm on your property, Vivint’s security monitoring team will step in. They’ll alert you right away and (if you don’t call them off) they’ll alert the authorities, too.
Vivint also offers professional installation. Vivint’s system is pretty modern — it’s light on wiring and serious installation tasks — but the company makes things even easier by dispatching its “SmartHomePros” to do things like mount the security cameras and get you comfortable with the app.
And, actually, the SmartHomePros can start working for you even sooner than that. Vivint offers in-home consultations to help you decide what sort of devices and system setup will work best for your property.
Vivint’s home security cameras are always watching, but they’re not necessarily always recording. If you want around-the-clock recording, though, you can add it as a service through Vivint.
Finally, Vivint offers Vivint Car Guard, which is exactly what it sounds like: a security measure for your vehicle. Attaching a small and unobtrusive device to your car will allow you to loop your vehicle’s security into your Vivint system and your Vivint app.

What Happens to My Vivint System and Contract When I Move?
You have three options when you move. If you meet the credit score requirements for qualifying customers, then you can get a new system when you move to your home. Payments can be made through FlexPay, which spreads the cost of the new system throughout your contract. You get a new contract and can make changes to your plan at this time.
The second option is to move your system to your new place. You can take your panel and your plug-in items with you, and get new starter equipment at your new location. Vivint also replaces up to three door locks, thermostats or doorbell cameras for you. You can purchase add-on equipment at this time. At your old location, you can remove your equipment or pay a $129 fee for a professional to handle this part of the process. You take these devices and pay $129 for the installation fee at your new home. Your contract remains the same.
The third option is to move your entire system and keep the same starter equipment. If you had door locks, thermostats or doorbell cameras as part of your system at the old house, you can replace 3 of them without an additional charge during the move. Add-on any new equipment that you would like incorporated into your Vivint system at the new location. You need to remove the equipment at the old house or have it done professionally for $129. The installation fee for your system at your new home is $129. The contract remains in place.

Can You Cancel Your Vivint Contract?
You can cancel your Vivint contract by following several steps. You have to put together a Notice of Cancellation that includes the service number, date, your signature and a note that indicates that you want to cancel. This notice can be emailed, faxed or mailed to Vivint. If you’re within your Right of Rescission period, then you have no penalty for canceling your contract.
If you’re in the middle of your contract, you either need to pay the full account balance or you have someone take over the rest of your agreement. This person must be considered qualified by Vivint before the contract transfer takes place.
