The main reason we buy home security cameras? Safety. We want to make sure we’re keeping a watchful eye on our property and loved ones. However, once in a while, instead of catching a prowler, we may document a hysterical mishap.
What is it about embarrassing situations being caught on camera that makes us nearly die with laughter? There’s a reason that “America’s Funniest Home Videos” has been on for more than 30 years — we can’t get enough of other people’s foibles.
We’ve found a few common denominators for most silly scenarios caught on video: animals, water, slippery floors, and someone having their hands full. Sometimes it’s all of those things at once! We can’t tell you how many videos we’ve watched of folks slipping on icy streets or stairs.
Try not to laugh too hard, because you never know — next time, it could be you caught on your own home security camera!
This fox tried to outrun a dog. But wait! The dog wasn’t alone — it pulled its poor owner along as the man slipped and slid all over the icy street while trying to wrestle control. We couldn’t help but giggle at this.
We can’t say we blame this woman’s reaction to finding a slithering creature in her driveway. Her spouse wasn’t much help, either!
Did You Know? It’s been said that the average person is recorded between 35 to 70 times a day on various security cameras (depending on where they live). That’s a lot of opportunities to be caught doing something embarrassing!
Choices, choices … it was not this guy’s day! He wasn’t sure which vehicle to save, and unfortunately, I don’t think he was able to rescue either one.
This guy’s workday seems to have started off on the wrong foot. Like a game of dominos, one beer fell and the rest just came tumbling down. You can’t blame him for being frustrated, right?
The lesson here is to never underestimate how badly your dog might want to escape, or how easily it may get spooked. This New Zealand woman found out the hard way! The good news is she eventually caught up to the scared pooch.
This UPS driver was surprisingly chill when a squirrel decided to use him as a temporary perch. The homeowner’s Ring doorbell camera caught the sweet interaction and ultimately, the driver seemed to get a kick out of it.
This thrill-seeking little girl got the ride of her life! While her mom had her back turned, she held onto the garage door as it opened. Their reliable home security camera captured the whole incident. Thank goodness she had a firm grip!
Who knows, maybe she had to use the restroom? Clearly this lady was in a rush! She got out of her car, seemingly while it was still in drive, and the car just kept rolling into the garage. Her Vivint camera caught the whole thing, so she can cherish the memory forever. The scariest part? This wasn’t the only video we saw of people forgetting to put their cars in park.
Did you learn any lessons from watching an hour of security camera fails? Perhaps they include: never tying your dog to anything that isn’t nailed down; taking extra precaution getting into a hammock; and always double-checking that your car’s in park before getting out. Oh, and if you keep your security camera running 24/7, it’s only a matter of time before something crazy gets captured on video!
