Larceny makes up about 72% of property crime in Texas, and over our observation period, we saw a 26% decline in these incidents. Our analysis shows theft dropping from 677,042 to 501,813 cases, with peak numbers hitting 678,455 before settling into a steady downward trend. These figures highlight both the scale of larceny in the Lone Star State and the progress made in reducing it over time.
Car Theft in Texas
Motor vehicle theft in Texas declined 17%, dropping from 93,423 to 77,489 incidents over our observation period, with peak thefts reaching 95,425.
