Our team recently reviewed the latest Oregon property crime rates, with a focus on burglary, larceny, and vehicle theft statistics. We noticed several trends as part of our investigation. Here are our insights.
Burglary in Oregon
Oregon has experienced a 47% drop in burglaries over the past 15 years, falling from 27,621 to 14,724 incidents. Our latest report shows that offenses are at their lowest levels, with break-ins comprising roughly 13% of property offenses. The Beaver State’s steady improvement reflects how effective community watch programs are.
Larceny in Oregon
We’ve seen a 25% drop in theft since 2005, with offenses starting at 113,316 and finishing at 85,261. The numbers are still high, though, as larceny still makes up roughly 74% of property crime. The good news is that these figures are steadily declining year-on-year.
Car Theft in Oregon
While vehicle theft has declined by 21% across Oregon, from 19,262 to 15,185 incidents, our data shows that the crime has had its ups and downs. Activity hasn’t risen any higher than our first recording, but the latest results are still up from their best results. These crimes account for about 13% of property offenses, with Portland experiencing the most notable fluctuations.
