We’ve dived into the most recent Nevada property crime rates, reviewing burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft data. Take a look at some of the trends we identified.
Burglary in Nevada
Home invasions in Nevada peaked at 24,911 in 2007 before declining to 15,510 in our latest report. This marks a 34% improvement from the initial 23,481 incidents. Our team also learned burglaries represent approximately 22% of property crime across the Silver State. We believe the reduction reflects improved security in both residential and commercial properties.
Larceny in Nevada
Theft in Nevada has declined modestly over the past 15 years. The total reduction is 14%, from 52,012 to 44,755 incidents. Today, larceny accounts for approximately 63% of property crime, which is lower than neighboring states. The good news is that the numbers have not peaked since the initial recording in 2005.
Car Theft in Nevada
Car theft in Nevada has seen remarkable improvement over the past decade, with a 58% decrease across the total observation period. Motor vehicle thefts plummeted from 26,931 to 11,260, peaking at 27,007 in 2006. Numbers are slightly higher over the past five years, but they have not come close to reaching their peak.
