Break-ins dropped 45% in Hawaii, falling from 9,792 to 5,340 incidents. Our team found these offenses account for about 13% of property crime statewide. The lowest levels occurred in recent years, demonstrating sustained improvement in home security.

Larceny in Hawaii

Hawaii saw theft decline 30%, falling from 42,188 to 29,634 incidents. Peak activity reached 42,188 before dropping substantially. Our analysis reveals these offenses comprise approximately 74% of the Aloha State’s property crime, with tourist areas showing particular improvement.

Car Theft in Hawaii

Car theft in Hawaii also shows positive progress, with a 42% decrease across our observation period. Motor vehicle thefts declined from 9,135 to 5,254, representing approximately 13% of all property crime. While incidents are still higher than they were several years ago, car theft figures have never gotten close to their initial peak.
