Identity Guard offers three packages for both individuals and families. Credit Karma is free to anyone who signs up for the service.

Although Credit Karma is more limited, it also scans the web looking for your social security number and address, among other things. Email notifications are sent out if your information is found on fraudulent websites or other websites where it doesn't belong.

Financial & Credit Monitoring

Identity Guard is more focused on credit monitoring but it does closely watch your financial accounts and will immediately notify you of any changes. It also will send alerts if new lines of credit are opened or if your credit cards are used outside of your normal area.

Credit Karma monitors both TransUnion and Equifax credit bureaus and offers credit scores that are updated regularly. They notify you by email when your scores or information changes or new lines of credit are opened. They also monitor your auto, mortgage, and personal loans.

Identity Restoration & Insurance Coverage

Identity Guard offers $1 million to members as compensation for lost funds and to cover the cost of restoring their identity. They also offer restoration and recovery resources to help you get the process started.

Credit Karma does not offer any type of insurance coverage.
