Did you know that more people die in home fires in this country than all the natural disasters combined!!!! Did you also know that 60% of reported home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms!!!!

The National S.A.F.E. Foundation, Inc.
"Children's Fire & Burn Fund" is a 501
c (3) non-profit organization
supporting fire educators and public educators, in community fire safety and prevention efforts.
S.A.F.E. Home partnerships are developed with fire departments, health
departments, hospitals, Red Cross Chapters, Safe Kids' Coalitions, civic
organizations and corporations.
Accomplishments:
Since February 1990, over 500,000 smoke alarms have been provided to the parents of newborns, preschool and grade school
children, the disabled, deaf and hard of hearing, senior citizens and the general public
through our Associate Members in over 300 communities in 43 states.
Hundred’s of thousands of Americans were reminded of the importance of working smoke alarms and fire safety practices to prevent and prepare for the tragedy of fire.
To date, 36 lives have been saved through established S.A.F.E. Home Programs (that we know of!). There is no greater measure of the success of a program than saved lives.
The
Independent Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to the members of
Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America
that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document,
and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of
public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.
These standards include those required by the US Government for inclusion in
the Combined Federal Campaign, probably the most exclusive fund drive in the
world. Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States
today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed
these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this
Seal.
